A message from Robert Brown, Video Director at Decision Point:

Do you want to be a part of something big? I mean, REALLY big? I'm not talking about some big Hollywood movie production, but something much bigger and more important.

Do you feel the urgency of our current cultural moment — that people in America desperately need to hear the gospel and be saved? Do you long to use your skills and gifts in filmmaking to be a part of the solution?

Does the idea of creating industry-leading video content for the direct advance of God's Kingdom excite you?

If your answer is "yes," then you probably have what it takes for this job! I encourage you to go ahead and apply and pray for the Lord to work it out (if it is His will). Don't let the job description and all the requirements scare you. We're looking for someone with competency and experience, yes, but what's more important is that that someone sees the need and has the ambition to do whatever it takes to help.

If you get hired for this job, you'll be working alongside me and the Marketing Team. We're seeking to become the premier communicator of stories of life change and transformation, even to lead the industry, all for the glory of God and the advance of the gospel. We're looking for someone who is ready to go all-in for this mission, so please take your time to read all the information about us below first.

Robert

About Decision Point

We are an evangelical non-profit that exists to proclaim the gospel to the next generation. We focus on equipping, sending and reaching students on their school campus and online. Browse through our website at DecisionPoint.org to learn more about what we do.

Come help save the next generation!

Expanding the Mission and Advancing the Gospel

Decision Point is currently active in 17 areas and partnering with churches and mobilizing students for campus outreach. We desire to see this number grow to 25 areas by 2027, and through our online coaching program, we hope to coach students far beyond that. We have seen that coaching a few schools in a local area today can lead to long-term ministry being established for years to come.

We have recently launched our new four-year campaign, I Have Decided.

In the next four years we are praying we will see:

  • 10,000 students say, “I have decided to witness for Christ!”
  • 1,000 churches say, “I have decided to mobilize our students to witness for Christ!”
  • 10,000 people to say, “I have decided to pray for and financially support this ministry.”

We believe that by God’s grace this will result in:

  • 25 strategic cities served by Decision Point campus ministry in their communities
  • 1,000 campuses impacted by the Student Leaders deployed by Decision Point
  • 2.5+ million students given the gospel on campus or online

Check out this video to see our mission in action.

We pray that the Lord will continue expanding the mission - coast-to-coast, border to border and beyond - till every student has heard.

About Our Next Video Producer

Join a talented and creative Marketing Team with the mission to tell stories about God saving lost students and raising up brave, young leaders to reach their generation. We're praying for the day that every student in every school in America has had the chance to hear the gospel, receive Christ and get plugged into a local church. Our Marketing Team gets to tell the stories about how this vision is coming to life!

Decision Point’s Video Producer will work in tandem with the Video Director to produce industry-leading video content for online distribution (e.g. YouTube) that equips hundreds of student leaders, inspires thousands of ministry partners, and directly reaches millions of lost students around the world with the gospel message.

As the Video Producer, you will get to have your hands in the whole process of pre-production, production, and post-production (including editing). We want you to take ownership of your own projects from the first pitch meeting to the final upload, not just what a traditional film producer does. But you won't be alone — we want to empower you to create and craft the best videos you can that will propel our mission forward.

Hours: Full-Time (40+ hours per week)

Location: In office in Whittier, CA (strongly preferred). Remote work may be considered on a case-by-case basis

Key Functions

  • Develop. Help our team innovate and generate great ideas for video content, selecting the best ideas for development. This will involve making well-thought-out pitches to product owners and explaining how a project idea will drive our mission forward. Create storyboards in collaboration with the Video Director.
  • Coordinate. Turn ideas into reality. Oversee video projects from start to finish, especially in the pre-production and post-production phases. This may include coordinating with and scheduling talent, crew members, locations, transportation, meals, and sometimes freelancers. Help create shot-lists for capturing media of all major events and marketing campaigns.
  • Capture. Personally capture professional video footage that tells a story and, more specifically, shows how God is saving lost students and empowering brave, young leaders to stand and witness for Christ. This role will involve a considerable amount of time helping with production on set and at events. Photography skills would be a huge plus, but are not required.
  • Edit. Edit various types of projects (eg. testimonies, mini-documentaries, teasers, recap videos, social media videos, etc...) by the given deadlines with maximal attention to producing high-quality finished products that will strategically engage our audience.
  • Organize. Carefully archive all media projects including video footage, supplementary graphics / audio files, NLE project files, and finished projects.

Key Relationships

  • Report to and work closely with the Video Director. You’ll also collaborate within the Marketing team, as well as with the greater Decision Point staff.
  • Recruit and lead volunteers and/or interns helping with projects. Sometimes you’ll contact and hire freelancers for filming, video editing or photography.

Job Qualifications

  • Experience: Must have at least 4 years of film production and video editing experience, including significant time spent in pre-production. Must have a robust understanding of the end-to-end film/video project workflow.
  • Software: Fluent in Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects, friendly with Google Docs. Experience with color grading in Davinci Resolve is a plus!
  • Hardware: Comfortable shooting with the Canon EOS series or equivalent. Knows how to set up and handle lights and heavy equipment. Drone experience is a plus. Owning your own gear is also a plus!
  • Travel: Must be comfortable traveling frequently by airplane. This role will include consistent travel locally and some travel around the nation, up to 6 times/year.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required.

Attitudes and Aptitudes

  • Must know what it takes to produce effective, engaging videos (with a tight budget) and be able to actually make it happen.
  • Must be familiar with the form, function, and trends of YouTube video content and be ready to make videos that are competitive with the best channels out there.
  • Must be an excellent video editor and camera operator. Additionally, must be competent in color correction and grading, sound design, audio mixing, and creating motion graphics. VFX experience is a plus!
  • Must have competent understanding of video codecs and file types and know which is best for certain applications.
  • Must be able to deliver a fast turnaround on any given video project while maintaining a high standard of quality and consistency.
  • Able to safely and comfortably lift 30+ lbs of sensitive film equipment.
  • Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Quick and eager learner in all areas.
  • Impressively organized with great attention to detail.
  • Possess high moral integrity, emotional health, social awareness and spiritual maturity.
  • A team player who is excited to serve with an incredible team and contribute their best.
  • An evangelical Jesus-follower who loves the gospel and evangelism.
  • A wise and mature believer who knows the Word of God and seeks to follow it.

Fundraising and Salary

Salary range for this role is $45,000 - $65,000 based on experience and qualifications.

As with any job, all Decision Point staff are paid for their work from day 1. As a distinctive part of this role, Decision Point is a non-profit ministry where every member of our staff is involved in fundraising for both financial and prayer support. And we think that’s a really good thing!

Just like missionaries about to be sent across the world, your first assignment on Decision Point staff will be to personally contact churches, friends and family and gather a team of partners to monthly invest in the ministry that God is leading you into. We’ll give you tons of training, encouragement and ongoing coaching.  If you like everything else and feel like this could be a good fit for you, do not let support raising stop you; let’s talk first.

You may have a lot of questions. This may be unlike most jobs you've considered. That's okay. The most important question—the one you should pray about, and the one that we'll be asking—is whether or not you can get excited and remain deeply motivated to reach this generation of students for Christ. Without the gospel, 3.3 million students are graduating high school every year, lost and without hope in the world. We want to fix that.

Is this the mission field for you?

If you don't know for sure, that's OK. Get started with the process and let's talk. Just fill out the short form, and we'll be in touch.
